IELTS

The IELTS examination (International English Language Testing System) is a basic language test which is intended to assess the ability of candidates in the English Language. Those who want to pursue their education at any of the English speaking counties or universities of the world, then this test is a compulsory one.

There are three tests which the IELTS examination will require. They each have their own challenges and if you overcome these challenges, it means that you are proficient in the English language. Most universities will require you to get a score of over 5.5-6.5 and we recommend that you do some research with us before taking your IELTS exam since each college will have their own requirements.

Format of the IELTS test

The following are the three parts of the IELTS examination:

Listening:

After you listen to various recorded texts, conversations and monologues by several native speakers, you will be asked to write answers to a series of questions. You will be asked questions which will test your ability to understand the basic ideas, detailed information, and attitude of the speakers and to follow the progress of ideas. You will be given 30 minutes to complete this test.

Reading:

This section consists of 40 questions that are of various types. You will be tested in a wide range of reading skills, such as, reading for the main ideas, for the basic ideas, for detailed information, skimming and recognizing the logic, opinions, attitudes and purpose of the writer. You will be given 60 minutes to complete this test.

Writing:

In this section, you will be given various arguments, problems, graphs, tables, diagrams and situational passages. Then you will be asked questions according to the topics about the data explanation, the parts of a process, description of an object or even how something works. You will also be required to write a formal essay in response to an argument. You will be given 60 minutes to complete this test.

Speaking:

In this section, you will be asked to answer general questions about yourself. Various other tasks will be provided to you such as preparing and presenting a topic given to you in a card, and discussing detailed and more complicated topics. You will have to complete these tests in 11-14 minutes.
